FFISHER Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 September 2026
1. Scope
FFISHER is an online fishing-planning application for Finland. The current release does not require an account and does not operate an FFISHER cloud profile or backend.
2. Data we receive or process
Place and forecast requests
When you search for or select a water body, the App may send search text, the selected place, coordinates and request parameters to public data services such as the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) and the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE). These requests retrieve weather, water-body and hydrology information.
FFISHER also retrieves public map and fishing-restriction information from Kalastusrajoitus.fi and the National Land Survey of Finland. These sources provide map tiles, official restriction overlays and related public geographic context.
Public providers may receive normal technical request information such as an IP address, time, user agent, requested endpoint and requested area under their own terms and privacy practices. The current App does not send this information to an FFISHER-owned backend.
Device location
If you activate the map location control, Android may provide foreground approximate or precise location to the map component so it can center the map and show your position. FFISHER does not deliberately send this location to an FFISHER-owned server. You can deny permission and use the App without this feature. Background location is not requested.
Third-party SDKs
The Android build includes Google Mobile Ads, Google User Messaging Platform (UMP), Firebase Analytics and Firebase Remote Config. Depending on SDK configuration, region, consent state and device settings, these services may process device information, advertising or app-instance identifiers, diagnostics, app interactions, configuration requests and advertising-related data.
Local app data
Session state and local map preferences may be held on the device. FFISHER does not currently provide cloud photo storage, a cloud journal or saved places. Clearing app data or uninstalling the App may remove local data according to the operating system.
3. How data is used
- to retrieve and display official weather, water, hydrology, map and restriction information;
- to display the map and optional device location;
- to operate, measure and secure the Android app and its third-party SDKs; and
- to show advertising where enabled and permitted by consent.
FFISHER does not use location or forecast data to promise a catch, determine legal permission to fish or certify water or ice safety.
4. Retention, sharing and deletion
FFISHER does not maintain an FFISHER-operated user-profile database. Data can nevertheless leave the device when the App requests data from FMI, SYKE, map providers, Kalastusrajoitus.fi, the National Land Survey of Finland, Firebase, Google Mobile Ads, UMP or another service selected by the App or by you. Each provider acts under its own terms, technical design, retention rules and privacy policy.
Local app data can generally be removed by clearing the App’s storage or uninstalling it. Third-party SDK and public-service data may be retained by those providers under their own policies. For a privacy question or legal request, contact the developer through the contact details shown in the current Google Play listing.
5. Security and consent
Requests to providers that support HTTPS are intended to use encrypted transport. The current restrictions overlay may use a public WMS endpoint configured by the App; do not send confidential information through map requests. Advertising consent is requested through Google UMP where required.
6. Important limitations
Information may be delayed, incomplete, malformed, incorrectly interpreted, unavailable, changed by a source or affected by coverage limitations. Official-source data is not automatically a legal determination. Always independently check current rules, permits, access requirements, weather, ice and local safety conditions with the responsible authority.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ABIvan-Tech and its contributors are not responsible for loss, injury, damage, fines, denied access, unlawful fishing, missed or unsafe decisions, service outages, third-party content, advertising or reliance on the App. Nothing excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
7. Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when the App or its services change. The last-updated date above identifies the current version. For privacy questions or requests, use the developer contact shown in the current Google Play listing for FFISHER.
